Usman Shinwari Announces Retirement from International Cricket

Pakistan left-arm pacer Usman Shinwari has officially announced his retirement from international cricket. The 30-year-old, who last represented Pakistan in 2019, ends his career after playing 34 matches across formats.

Career Overview

Shinwari made his international debut in 2013 in a T20I against Sri Lanka. Over the next six years, he featured in 17 ODIs and 16 T20Is, collecting 34 wickets in ODIs and 13 wickets in T20Is. His Test career was short, with just one appearance in December 2019 against Sri Lanka, which also turned out to be his final outing for Pakistan.

Memorable Performances

In only his second ODI, Shinwari delivered a brilliant five-wicket haul against Sri Lanka in Sharjah, announcing himself as a serious prospect for Pakistan’s pace attack.

He repeated the feat in 2019 with another five-wicket haul, once again against Sri Lanka, during what became his penultimate ODI appearance.

He was also part of Pakistan’s squad for the 2018 Asia Cup, strengthening the team’s fast-bowling depth at the time.

Legacy

Although Shinwari’s international career was relatively short, his fiery left-arm pace and memorable spells against Sri Lanka made him a recognizable figure among Pakistan cricket fans. His decision marks the end of a chapter that began with promise in 2013 and concluded six years later.
