Sialkot Hit by Record-Breaking Rainfall and Floods

Sialkot witnessed an unprecedented 512 mm of rainfall within just 48 hours, causing severe urban flooding and overflowing of three major drains, according to Deputy Commissioner Saba Asghar.

Rescue operations were launched with boats, and nine relief camps were established across the city. However, many residents declined to relocate despite the growing risk.

The floodwaters also breached a protective embankment, partially impacting Sialkot International Airport and forcing the temporary suspension of flight operations. Authorities confirmed that the runway and other critical infrastructure remain safe.
