Petrol & Diesel Prices Likely to Drop

Petroleum prices in Pakistan are expected to ease slightly in the upcoming fortnight, with sources indicating a potential reduction of up to Rs. 3 per litre.

According to preliminary estimates, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) may drop by Rs. 3.13 per litre, while petrol is likely to see either a small cut of 61 paisas or remain unchanged.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is preparing its pricing summary, which will be submitted to the government on August 31, based on international oil market trends and local industry data. Oil marketing companies have already provided their calculations to OGRA.

The final decision will rest with the Ministry of Finance, after consultation with the Prime Minister.

Earlier this month, the government slashed the price of high-speed diesel by Rs. 12.84 per litre, bringing it down to Rs. 272.99. However, petrol prices were kept unchanged at Rs. 264.61 per litre.
