Islamabad: Founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has refused to accept the resignation of Salman Akram Raja from the position of PTI Secretary-General.
Speaking to media outside Adiala Jail, Salman Akram Raja confirmed that Imran Khan, despite being incarcerated, directed him to continue in his role. Raja stated that the PTI Political Committee will meet today to finalize strategies for the upcoming by-elections, emphasizing that “all decisions will be taken according to the founder’s directives.”
On Monday, Raja had announced stepping down from his post via a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), citing “an incident that now demands a firm decision.” Reports suggested that the resignation followed a heated exchange with Aleema Khan, sister of Imran Khan.
However, speaking to journalists outside Adiala Jail, Aleema Khan categorically denied any rift with Raja. She stressed, “We are like family.”
This development highlights Imran Khan’s strong influence over party matters, even from prison, as PTI gears up for crucial electoral battles.
