Rain Forecast for Northern Pakistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a fresh weather alert, warning of rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms in the northern regions of the country next week. According to the Met Office, moderately humid winds from the Arabian Sea are entering the upper parts of Pakistan.

From September 16 to 19, intermittent rainfall is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, while Kashmir may receive rain from September 15 to 19. Several districts of Punjab and the federal capital Islamabad are also likely to experience showers and thunderstorms during this period.

Meanwhile, most of Sindh is expected to remain hot and dry, except for the coastal areas which may see partly cloudy weather. Balochistan is forecast to face humid and partly cloudy conditions.

Punjab Flood Situation Worsens

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has released new data showing the worsening impact of the floods. More than 4,700 villages have been affected due to high water levels in the Chenab, Sutlej, and Ravi rivers.

Chenab River: 2,475 villages affected

Sutlej River: 715 villages affected

Ravi River: 1,458 villages affected

In total, over 4.574 million people have been impacted across Punjab, highlighting the scale of the humanitarian crisis.

Rescue and Relief Efforts

Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed confirmed that at least 2.516 million people trapped in floodwaters have been safely relocated. To support displaced communities, authorities have established 372 relief camps, 459 medical camps, and 391 veterinary camps across flood-hit districts.

Additionally, more than 2.020 million animals have been rescued and shifted to safer locations. Despite large-scale efforts, the floods have tragically claimed 104 lives in different incidents throughout Punjab.
