Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has formally lodged a complaint against Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The complaint, filed by his lawyer, Tabish Farooq, was sent to the Central Police Office (CPO) via courier. It alleges that Maryam Nawaz, through her instructions, has ensured that Khan is being denied his basic rights while imprisoned.
The application names eight individuals, including the jail superintendent, ASP Zainab, and SHO Aizaz, who are accused of carrying out the orders to keep Khan in poor conditions. According to the complaint, Khan’s cell in Adiala Jail lacks proper lighting, and his family members are being denied permission to visit him. These actions, the lawyer argues, are politically motivated.
Furthermore, the complaint highlights previous threatening statements made by Maryam Nawaz, calling Imran Khan a “fitna” (troublemaker) who must be “eliminated.” The application accuses prison officers and police station staff of working together to harass Khan’s family and violate court orders. Despite directives from the High Court, Khan’s sisters have been repeatedly denied permission to meet him.
Imran Khan’s legal team insists that all individuals involved in the violation of his rights, including Maryam Nawaz, should face legal consequences. The complaint requests that a formal case be filed, with the hope of bringing the matter to legal review.
