Karachi witnessed relentless rainfall from Tuesday night into Wednesday, plunging the city into turmoil. Overflowing storm drains and streams sent floodwaters rushing into neighborhoods, paralyzing life across Pakistan’s largest metropolitan hub.
Flooding Brings Daily Life to a Standstill
Heavy downpours left many residents stranded inside their homes, while severe waterlogging submerged key roads including Shahrah-e-Faisal, Saddar, and Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Traffic snarls crippled the port city as vehicles stalled on inundated highways.
The Karachi administration has deployed rescue teams and launched relief operations to provide assistance to affected families, many of whom faced power outages and shortages of essentials.
Weather Forecast: More Rain Ahead
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), this ongoing monsoon spell is expected to persist for another 24 hours. Temperatures in Karachi are predicted to remain between 27°C and 29°C, with humidity levels reaching 92%.
Meteorologists also warned that a low-pressure system west of Karachi could push more rain-laden clouds into the region, raising fears of additional flooding in low-lying areas.
Administration on High Alert
The Sindh government has urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and stay indoors. Emergency hotlines remain active, while authorities are coordinating with disaster management teams to minimize losses.
